Joe vs. the Universe

Joe Kelly is a writer/creator in comic books and tele- vision best known as part of Man of Action Studioscreators of the kids’ action/comedy franchise Ben 10 (responsible for both Cartoon Network’s highest-rated single program and highest rated series premiere).

Joe has redefined the modern superhero story on major franchises such as The X-Men, Superman in Action Comics, Justice League of America, and Spider-Man. His unique spin also propelled B-List characters like Deadpool (Harvey Award nomination) to major media attention. Wizard Magazine named his work on Action Comics #775 the "Greatest Superman Story of All Time." Conversely, his controversial script for JLA #83 garnered him the title, "Rat of the Week" on the über conservative Scarborough Country for its criticism of American international politics. He’s not sure which makes him more proud.

In addition to Man of Action Studios creation Ben 10 redefining programming on Cartoon Network, Joe redefined other mainstays of the animated television market. While serving as writer on the fifth season of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for 4Kids Entertainment, Joe was moved up to story editor for all 26 episodes on the program’s 6th season, the re-imagined Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fast Forward. Joe then story edited the 4Kids Entertainment show Chaotic and wrote its hour-long pilot.

In film, Joe co-wrote The Nightmarist for Paramount, the animated feature The 7Cs for SamG Productions, and last year wrote and directed his own short, Brothers’ Day – an official selection at the Queens International Film Festival.
